GMC reg: 3487675Qualified from University College and Middlesex Hospital School of Medicine (University of London) in 1990 and gained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1994, becoming a Fellow in 2007. Undertook specialist training in cardiology and general medicine in Leicester and completed invasive and interventional cardiology subspecialty training at the University Hospital of Geneva, Switzerland. I was appointed lead consultant in Cardiology in January 2003 at Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust (based at Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford in Kent) and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at Guy's & St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in Central London. I practice privately at KIMS Hospital, Weavering near Maidstone, Kent & KIMS Sevenoaks Medical Centre, Kent and I have admitting rights to the HCA London Bridge Hospital. I am the senior cardiologist at Darent Valley Hospital and led the development of modern cardiac services there, introducing novel, patient-centred, multidisciplinary pathways and the development of the £4.2 million purpose-built Heart Centre incorporating a modern non-invasive cardiac investigations unit, a dedicated cardiac catheter lab and spacious day ward which opened in January 2007. This enabled the introduction of daycase DC cardioversion for atrial fibrillation/flutter, coronary angiography (primarily via the more comfortable radial artery approach in the vast majority of his patients), coronary angioplasty & stenting including primary PCI for acute heart attacks and the appointment of colleagues who perform implantation of pacemaker and advanced devices. I have also led on the clinical development of the Bexley Community Cardiology Service which was established in 2007 and brought secondary care cardiology out of the hospital into Bexley’s local GP surgeries. The service has improved access and timeliness of assessment for suspected cardiac conditions. The service has been recognised nationally as a model for cardiac service development. More recently I have worked closely with colleagues at Guy’s & St Thomas’ in the further enhancement of the service including access to CT coronary imaging and specialist cardiomyopathy assessment incorporating cardiac MRI. I am a general cardiologist and see and consult on all types of heart conditions. As well as having a particular interest in coronary artery disease, angioplasty and stenting, I run an adult congenital heart disease clinic jointly with St Thomas’ experts, a research clinic in heart failure and a specialist service for ‘difficult-to-treat’ hypertension & hypertension in young adults. I have senior clinical managerial experience being the past Chair of Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust Patient Safety Committee 2008-2013 and Clinical Directorate May 2013-December 2015. For leisure, I regularly swim middle distance and enjoy 'RnB' music and play the ukulele!
