Dr Walton D’Costa is a highly experienced Consultant Neonatologist and Paediatrician at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, where he has been delivering expert care since 2013. With over 30 years of experience in neonatal and paediatric medicine, he is dedicated to supporting newborns and infants through every stage of their early development. After completing his postgraduate training in paediatrics in Goa, India, Dr D’Costa moved to the UK to pursue advanced specialist training. He refined his paediatric and specialist neonatal expertise at leading institutions, including St George’s Hospital, King’s College Hospital, Royal London Hospital, and Evelina Children’s Hospital in London. Dr D’Costa specialises in newborn care following complex pregnancies and births, providing comprehensive neonatal follow-up services. His key interests lie in nutrition, growth, and development, and he takes a holistic approach—emphasising the well-being of parents as an integral part of infant health. He believes in collaborative care, actively involving parents in decision-making to ensure the best outcomes for their children. A passionate advocate for newborn resuscitation, Dr D’Costa serves as the Medical Director for the Newborn Life Support Course and is an instructor for the European Paediatric Life Support Course. He is the joint Simulation Lead for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), helping to shape clinical education and hands-on training for healthcare professionals. In addition to his neonatal work, Dr D’Costa is a UNICEF-trained breastfeeding specialist, applying the Bayley Scales of Infant Development to monitor infant neurodevelopmental progress in outpatient clinics. He also contributes to professional development as a Trust Appraiser.
