Mr. Viju Peter works as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust specialising in treating hip and knee problems. He has a special interest in Hip and Knee replacement surgery including revision hip surgery, hip problems in the young adult and joint preserving procedures.
He completed his Higher Surgical training in the Mersey rotation and did his fellowship training at Wrightington Hospital and The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham before being appointed as consultant in 2008.
He has a special interest in managing young patients with arthritis, improving outcomes after revision surgery for failed joint replacements, investigating high performance bearing surfaces for joint replacements and hip arthroscopy. He is one of the few surgeons in the region with extensive experience in hip arthroscopic procedures.
He has helped set up a joint replacement service at Alderhey Children’s hospital and transitional clinics between Alderhey and Broadgreen to provide a seamless patient care for children and young adults with hip problems.
He is very keen on research and has several national and international presentations and has published several papers. In his free time he enjoys travelling and plays cricket and badminton. His philosophy in life and work is “whatever you do, do it the best you can.”
