Dr Vasileios Panoulas

Dr Vasileios Panoulas is a consultant interventional cardiologist and the interventional lead at Harefield Hospital. He is an expert in complex percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), cardiogenic shock and trans catheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). He has performed over 3000 PCI and over 800 TAVIs in his career which spans a decade. He has a rich academic profile with over 250 peer reviewed publications and nearly 12000 citations on google scholar. He has been shortlisted in 2021 for the TCT Linnermeier award (top 3 interventional cardiologists internationally (<40 years of age achievements) and is a holder of a national clinical excellence award N1. From 2008-10, he underwent his core medical training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. This was followed by his cardiology core training at Hammersmith Hospital where he was appointed as a National Heart and Lung Institute academic clinical fellow (2010-13). He then undertook an interventional cardiology fellowship at San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Milan, Italy for a year (2013-14). He completed his MSc in interventional cardiology from Universita Vita-Salute San Raffaele, Milan, Italy. Subsequently, he returned to London and was a North West London interventional fellow for two years at Hammersmith Hospital (2014-16). At this time, Dr Panoulas was an NIHR clinical lecturer in cardiology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. He continues his academic work there now as an honorary senior clinical lecturer. Dr Panoulas has been a consultant cardiologist at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals since August 2016.
