Tim Quinnell is a respiratory and sleep disorders physician based at Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge. He qualified in London and undertook early postgraduate medical training in the UK, before moving to Australia where he specialised in respiratory and sleep medicine. He returned to the UK to complete his training and undertake research, gaining consultancy in 2004. Dr Quinnell specialises in respiratory and non-respiratory sleep disorders, domiciliary noninvasive ventilation (NIV) and weaning from invasive ventilation. His MD was on genetic and electrophysiological aspects of narcolepsy. He was Chief Investigator for the NIHR Trial of Mandibular Advancement Devices in OSA and is currently leading another NIHR trial, examining combination therapy for OSA. Dr Quinnell is actively engaged in providing and developing sleep medicine education across disciplines and levels, locally, nationally and internationally.
