GMC reg: 6057752Mr Jones is a consultant neurosurgeon at St George’s Hospital and sees private patients in central London and Surrey. His clinical interests include general neurosurgery with a specialist interest in neuro-oncology, facial pain and hemi-facial spasm as well as general neurosurgery and the management of degenerative spinal disorders. Mr Jones is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Neurosurgery at St George's University of London. His primary research interest is the role of advanced magnetic resonance modalities in the surveillance of low grade glioma. Mr Jones qualified from Imperial College London with a first class honours BSc in 2000 before obtaining MBBS in 2002. He completed his neurosurgical training in London and obtained membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS) in 2005 and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Surgical Neurology (FRCS SN) in 2013. Mr Jones was awarded the Norman Dott Medal for the most outstanding performance in the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (neurosurgery) exam in 2013. During his training, Mr Jones spent 3 years as the Rupert Johnson Fellow in Neurosurgery at St George’s and was awarded a PhD from the University of London in 2013 into the role of advanced magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of brain tumours which was funded by the St George’s Neurosciences Research Foundation and a Royal College of Surgeons Research Fellowship. He completed a Marjorie Newsome Travelling Observership at the Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix in 2015. Mr Jones is the lead clinician for the regional Neuro-Oncology service based at St George's. He has a specialist interest in the management of low grade gliomas which encompasses novel diagnostic strategies and research into Advanced MR Imaging as well as awake surgery and mapping to maximise tumour resection whilst minimising neurological deficit. Mr Jones also treats patients with malignant gliomas, employing techniques such as intra-operative ultrasound, 5-ALA (gliolan), image guidance, and awake mapping to achieve the best outcomes for his patients.
