Dr Tim Wang

Dr Tim Wang is Consultant in Clinical Biochemistry in Frimley and Guildford, and Visiting Senior Fellow in Metabolic, Endocrine and Nutritional Medicine at the University of Surrey in Guildford. He studied Medicine at the University of Sheffield, UK and was awarded a PhD following his work on cholesterol metabolism at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. After post-graduate training, he was appointed as a Consultant to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford and Frimley Park Hospital. He is actively engaged in local and multi-centre research projects and enjoys teaching postgraduate students and trained doctors. He currently sits on the Steering Group for the National Audit of the Management of Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH) at the Clinical Effectiveness and Evaluation Unit at the Royal College of Physicians in London, and on the Steering Committee for the Hampshire FH cascade Screening Service. He is the Specialty Lead for the Clinical Biochemistry for Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services, which includes laboratory services at Frimley Park Hospital, The Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals in Chertsey, Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals, and the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, and he directs the Cardiovascular Risk Factor Supra-regional Assay Service in Guildford. His clinical interests are in Metabolic Medicine in general, but he has particular interests in hyperlipidaemia (abnormal cholesterol and triglyceride), renal (kidney) stone disease and calcium metabolism.
