GMC reg: 6101649Thomas graduated from Barts and The London Medical School in 2004 before completing his registrar orthopaedic training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals. Following this he undertook specialist children’s orthopaedic fellowships at The Royal London Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust, and Westmead Children’s Hospital in Sydney, Australia. In 2016, he was appointed to his current post of Children’s Orthopaedic Consultant at The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton. His practice encompasses all areas of paediatric orthopaedic surgery, in addition to providing an on-call trauma service for both adults and children at a major trauma centre. He is skilled in treating a variety of conditions, including hip dysplasia, developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE), deformity correction, Perthes disease, guided growth surgery, neuromuscular disorders, cerebral palsy, foot and ankle conditions in children, minimally invasive surgery for hallux valgus, cavovarus foot deformity, and flat feet. Thomas is a strong proponent of non-surgical treatments and takes great care to explain to both children and their parents that orthopaedic care does not necessarily require surgery. Thomas will only perform surgery where it is it the most appropriate treatment, and many children will not need it. At the initial consultation, he will carefully build up a picture of the causes and symptoms of each child’s condition before progressing to recommending the most effective treatment. Outside work, Thomas is a reserve officer in the Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron with the Royal Airforce and is heavily involved in several work-related charities, including Rockinghorse, Ronald McDonald House in Brighton and the SPRINT Fund. His hobbies include racquet sports, golf, skiing and outdoor pursuits. Book now
