Mr Terrence Lowe

Personal Profile   Terry Lowe is a Consultant Maxillofacial / Head and neck surgeon based in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Hon Senior lecturer of the University of Aberdeen. (2003 – present) Terry completed Dental and Medical degrees in Sheffield, South Yorkshire followed by 2 years of General surgery training in Derbyshire, leading to FRCS in General Surgery; 1998. He completed Higher Surgical Training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the West of Scotland Programme, developing a specialist interest in Head and Neck Oncology and  Reconstructive surgery. Completed FRCS OMFS 2002. Interests and Roles Introduced virtual 3D surgical planning service as a standard of care for head and neck surgery 2006, improving the quality of complex Head and Neck reconstructions for patients. Current interests include the development of blended imaging and augmented reality in surgical planning and the early detection of oral cancer. Longstanding involvement in Medical Education and training: Obtained Diploma in Clinical Education in 2014. Member of OMFS STC and NHS Education for Scotland.  Awarded BAOMS Trainer of the Year 2023 Educational and clinical supervisor for surgeons in training and a member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of the Royal college of Surgeons in Edinburgh.  National Panellist for recruitment in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  Undergraduate and postgraduate Surgical Examiner including Faculty role with RCPS Glasgow since 2016 as National and International examiner in MRCS (General surgery).Terry is also the Specialty Board Representative for the Joint Committee on Intercollegiate Examinations (OMFS) for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
