Mr Syed Tahir Hussain

I was trained in the Oxford Deanery as a surgeon and prior to that I trained as a junior doctor in London and Sheffield and completed a two year higher surgical degree, which is a Master of Surgery, at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in blood flow of the lower limb and was awarded a Hunterian Professorship, Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1996 for outstanding work in volumetric blood flow analysis of flow and bifurcations in the lower limb. I am a full time Consultant Vascular Surgeon at North West London University NHS Trust.  I also work to cover emergency on-call at the Royal Brompton Hospital on a one in four basis and teach undergraduate students at Imperial College. My job description at Northwick Park Hospital is three surgical sessions, two outpatient sessions and multi-disciplinary team meetings which includes diabetes. I have run many courses for vascular surgery at Northwick Park Hospital including Basic Surgical Skills course and currently teach on the Endovascular Aneurysm course (Cook Medical). I have previously been Clinical Lead for the Vascular Institute and also Royal College of Surgeons Tutor for a period of seven years from August 2000 until 2007. I run a private practice at The Hospital of St. John & St. Elizabeth, Highgate Hospital and the Clementine Churchill Hospital as well at the private wing at Northwick Park Hospital and am recognised by all major health insurance companies I have been an expert in arterial and venous conditions and have been compiling medico-legal reports throughout the duration of my consultancy since August 2000.  I have a special interest in venous diseases and also hand/arm vibration syndrome.
