I am a Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeon. My sub-specialty is the management of acute knee injuries and painful knee conditions. I qualified as a doctor in 2002. During my specialist training programmes and international fellowships I sought out and was trained by world renowned knee specialists and surgeons. By working with them I learnt the importance of patient care and selection. Being able to accurately diagnose conditions and advise the correct patients for the correct operations is key to success. Surgical skill is of course also important, and that is an area where I pride myself and pass on to surgical trainees through training and mentorship programmes. I became a Consultant in Bristol in 2019. My NHS practice is based at Bristol Royal Infirmary, University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, and the Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Southmead Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust. Within these centres I work closely with fellow knee surgeons with a weekly regional meeting to discuss ideas and complex or interesting cases. I have a private practice at Nuffield Hospital, Bristol and Spire Hospital, Bristol. I am always looking at new research and procedures that could help treat knee problems. I have over 60 international peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and work with international research groups. I review new journal articles for major journals before they are published ensuring that I can offer cutting-edge care. I will carefully explain your diagnosis and give you management choices with an evidence-based approach. Providing effective treatments to consistently achieve fantastic outcomes. I was born and grew up in Cambridge, which surprises most people given my uncommon name! I have lived in Bristol since 2019 with my wife, and now young family with two girls. Together we love travelling and exploring the UK countryside. I hold or have held a number of key roles: Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of United Kingdom National Institute of Health & Care Research (NIHR) West of England research lead for Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions Fellow of Sydney Orthopaedic Research Institute International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS) committee member British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK) member Orthopaedic Trauma Society (OTS) member AO Foundation fellow The Bone & Joint Journal reviewer knee section
