I am an internationally trained clinical academic Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at University Hospital, Southampton and an Associate Professor at University of Southampton. I completed fellowships in UK (Oxford, London), US (Harvard) and Australia with experience in all aspects of complex cardiac surgery. I offer treatments for the entire spectrum complex coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease (aortic, mitral and tricuspid), surgery for atrial fibrillation and left atrial appendage occlusion. I have a special interest in surgery for complex diseases of the aortic organ including aortic valve repairs, root and aortic arch surgery and aortic dissections. I am involved in clinical research/audit with over 130 publications in the fields of cardiac surgery outcomes for coronary bypass surgery and valve surgery, aortic dissection, diabetes in cardiac surgery and efficiency of surgical care pathways. I am a reviewer for various grant committees and journals and has been a national and international technical advisor on adoption of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) and is a technical advisor to NICE, UK for interventional procedures. I am an investigator on a number of national and international clinical trials and registries and passionate about patient empowerment and shared decision making.
