GMC reg: 6148300I am a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist practicing at Kingston and St Thomas’ Hospitals. Prior to this, I was a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist for five years at Worthing and the Royal Sussex County Hospitals. I am trained in all aspects of adult cardiology with a special interest in complex coronary intervention, intravascular imaging and structural heart disease. I was educated at Westminster School and subsequently qualified as a doctor from St George's Hospital Medical School, London, in 2006. I was awarded an intercalated BSc for original genetics research and a merit prize in clinical medicine during my medical training. I entered specialist training in cardiology, where I rotated through a series of prestigious posts in London and on the South Coast. I was successfully awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (MD Res) in recognition of my research at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. I subsequently completed subspecialty training in coronary intervention at the Royal Sussex County and St Thomas' hospitals. After completing my training, I was offered an extremely prestigious, fully-funded interventional fellowship at McMaster University, Canada. During my fellowship, I was trained specifically in chronic total occlusions and percutaneous mitral valve intervention (mitraclip). I treat patients with a variety of symptoms, including chest pain, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia palpitations, breathlessness and blackouts. I organise and perform numerous investigations including ECGs, ambulatory ECG monitoring, echocardiograms, cardiac CT and cardiac MRI as required. As an interventional cardiologist, I have performed well over 1,500 percutaneous coronary interventions. I undertake detailed intracoronary imaging (optical coherence tomography and intravascular ultrasound) and physiological assessments (pressure wire) to guide my decision making and have experience and dedicated training in complex percutaneous coronary interventions including chronic total occlusions, bifurcations and rotational atherectomy. In addition, I have expertise in optical coherence tomography (OCT) from my post-doctoral research which involved investigating the molecular mechanisms contributing to patients having acute heart attacks. I am actively involved in numerous research projects both locally and internationally. I am an investigator for several cardiovascular research trials. Following my fellowship, I have strong links and ongoing projects with McMaster University, a centre world-famous for large cardiovascular trials and landmark publications. To date, I have presented my research internationally, published in high impact journals and written book chapters. I am passionate about medical education and am an educational and clinical supervisor to a range of junior doctors. I provide educational talks to colleagues and local GPs.
