Dr Sujata Khambekar

Dr Sujata Khambekar is a Consultant Cardiologist based at Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and seeing private patients at Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital, Dorset Heart Clinic and The Harbour Hospital. She completed her medical degree at the University of Mumbai, India in 1996 followed by her MD in General Internal Medicine and her DNB in General Internal Medicine in 1999. She then relocated to the UK and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2000. She later completed her specialist cardiology training and a fellowship in cardiac imaging with the South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust in 2012 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2020. Dr Khambekar specialises in cardiac imaging (transthoracic echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and stress echocardiography), heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and adult congenital heart disease management. She is also the current Adult Congenital Heart Disease lead for Dorset. Her private practice offers a wide range of tests and treatments including assessment of all cardiac conditions, cardiac clinical pharmacology, cardioversion, angiography, ECG, event monitor, and MRI scan. Alongside her clinical work, Dr Khambekar holds professional memberships with several societies including the British Cardiovascular Society and the British Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance. She also has research interests in heart failure and atrial fibrillation.
