Mr Stefan Bajada is a highly skilled Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist focus on knee reconstruction. His practice spans both Werndale Hospital and Hywel Dda University Health Board, where he is known for his expertise in advanced knee procedures and his dedication to innovative treatment methods. Patients travel from all surrounding areas of Carmarthenshire to see him. His patients know him for the care he provides at the highest professional standards. Mr Bajada graduated from the University of Malta in 2004 before relocating to the UK in 2006. He completed his Trauma and Orthopaedic training with the Wales Deanery and, in 2011, earned a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Keele University, where his research focused on regenerative medicine techniques, including stem cell therapies for fracture healing. He went on to further refine his skills in complex knee reconstruction through fellowship training at the prestigious Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit and Orthopaedic Sports Surgery in Cardiff, ultimately earning his Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2016. He regularly treats knee injuries in sports players of all levels and has completed the FIFA diploma in football medicine. A passionate educator, Mr Bajada serves as a Surgical Tutor with the Royal College of Surgeons of England, mentoring junior doctors and specialist trainees. He is also the Clinical Director of Clinical Audit at Hywel Dda University Health Board, where he leads quality improvement projects to enhance patient safety and care standards. Mr Bajada is actively involved in research, particularly in the field of regenerative medicine, with the goal of translating novel techniques into clinical practice. His award-winning PhD thesis focused on innovative fracture healing methods, including stem cell treatments. He is regularly invited to present his research at national and international conferences and is committed to furthering advancements in orthopaedic care.
