Dr Simon Chan

Dr Chan is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and an Honorary Associate Professor in Gastroenterology at the Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia. His undergraduate medical training was at the University of Cambridge where he was also awarded his PhD on immune responses to the gastrointestinal pathogen Salmonella. He completed his specialist training in Gastroenterology and General Medicine in the East of England Deanery. During this time he was awarded a four year National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Lectureship investigating the role of environmental and dietary factors in the aetiology and relapse of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis that has lead to numerous research publications, book chapters and conference presentations. Dr Chan is interested in all aspects of general gastroenterology and has an extensive experience in treating a wide range of gastroenterological disorders. He has specific interests in the diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel and colonic diseases. He has further expertises in diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy including EMR (endoscopic mucosal resections).
