Dr Siao Pei Tan

Professional Summary Dr Tan is a Consultant Dermatologist and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in the UK. She completed her undergraduate medical degree and PhD research in the field of eczema at The University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Her general medical training was in Cambridge and London and she completed her dermatology specialist training in East Kent in 2020. From 2020-2023, she was a substantive NHS Consultant Dermatologist in East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, where she ran three specialist services within the NHS, namely the Specialist Genital Dermatology Clinic (for which she was the Lead Consultant), Cutaneous Allergy Patch Testing Clinic and the Teledermatology service for skin cancer referrals. She was also the Drugs and Therapeutic Lead Consultant for the Dermatology Department. Since 2023, she has been working as an independent provider in SE England. Additional Qualifications Doctor of Philosophy by Thesis (Ph.D.) from The University of Edinburgh Under the tutelage of Professor R. Weller and Dr S. Brown, Dr Tan's research provided new pathomechanistic insights into the development of eczema by demonstrating defective proteolysis of profilaggrin in some patients.  PG Certificate in Allergy from Imperial College London Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine from American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine Dermoscopy Diploma of Excellence from International Dermoscopy Society Publications Written and co-authored multiple publications which are available on PubMed database. For her PhD research, Dr Tan was given the prestigious international postgraduate ORS award and she was also won a highly competitive University of Edinburgh College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine PhD Scholarship.  Presentations Dr Tan has presented at national events and international conferences including at the European Society for Dermatological Research Annual Meeting,  British Association of Dermatologists Annual Meeting, British Society for Investigative Dermatology Meeting, Royal Society of Medicine, St John’s Society Meeting and at the  Scottish Skin Biology Club.
