Dr Shirish Prabhudesai

Having successfully completing my thesis titled, FGF-2, chemo resistance and colorectal cancer, and being awarded MD (Research) from Imperial College London, I was selected for run through radiology training at Barts and the London Hospitals in 2008. Having completed my four years of core (diagnostic) radiology training, I completed my 2 year fellowship in interventional radiology in October 2014 having worked at the Royal London Hospital, The Royal Marsden Hospital and Guys and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Hospitals Trust. I was appointed as a consultant in interventional and diagnostic radiology at Ashford & St Peters Hospital in November 2014.  I perform all vascular and non vascular interventional radiology procedures including peripheral arterial / iliac / crural angioplasties+/- stenting, venous stenting, endovascular repair of abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms, image guided biopsies/drainages, central tunnelled line, porta cath and PICC line insertions, uterine artery fibroid embolisation, pelvic vein embolisation, prostate artery embolisation, nephrostomies, ureteric stent insertions, percutaneous biliary drainage/stenting, IVC filter insertions and retrievals, oesophageal/ duodenal stenting and gastrostomy tube insertions. In addition, my other interests are in ultrasound and ultrasound guided FNA's, CT and MR (hepato-biliary and neuroradiology) reporting. I was the Postgraduate College Tutor for the Department of Radiology at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust from 2017 until October 2022. I was awarded the local Clinical Excellence Award for 2018. In August 2021, I was appointed as the Training lead for US simulator for the Surrey region for the KSS Deanery, Southeastern Imaging Academy. This has helped as a very useful adjunct in training radiology registrars in the Surrey region. The aim is to provide training to radiographers in training in the region in the near future. In May 2021, I was appointed as Honorary Interventional Radiology consultant at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust where I continue to work till date.
