Mr Shibendra Datta

I am a Consultant Urological Surgeon based at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. My private practice is at Spire Cardiff Hospital. As well as practising most aspects of general urology, my subspecialist interests are stone surgery and minimally invasive urology. I also have interests in urodynamics, female urology and benign enlargement of the prostate. I qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1990. I then obtained the FRCS (Eng.) in 1994 and trained in urology in South Wales. I spent two years as a research fellow at the University of Wales College of Medicine and obtained my MD thesis in 1999. My higher surgical training was completed in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea. I play the piano and speak basic Welsh.

I carry out consultations for across the spectrum of urological conditions and have a special interest in diagnostic urodynamics for patients with bladder and prostate symptoms. I have specialist interests in keyhole surgery for urinary tract stone disease, the medical and surgical treatment of bladder symptoms in both women and men and microsurgical vasectomy reversal.
