Mr Serafeim Antonakis MD, MSc

Mr Serafeim Antonakis is a highly regarded Consultant Ophthalmologist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon, who currently treats patients in Southampton-Hampshire and Exeter-Devon. With over a decade of experience in both the UK and Greece, he has built a reputation as a trusted specialist in Vitreoretinal and Cataract surgery. After qualifying in his native Greece and receiving his CCT in Ophthalmology from the University of Athens, Mr Antonakis moved to the UK to develop his skills and experience. He completed his medical retina clinical research fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London , before being awarded an honorary position in recognition of his fine work. He then worked at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust as a retinal fellow for two years, until his dedicated work was once again acknowledged, this time with the offer of a senior position. Mr Antonakis completed his final fellowship position at St Thomas’ Hospital in London , before accepting the substantive Consultant position at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust which he holds to this day. He has been described as "a pleasure to work with" by his colleagues, while patients regularly commend him for his exceptional knowledge, kindness, patience and dedication.
