Dr. Jayaseelan is a Consultant in Pain Management and Anaesthesia at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, United Kingdom. He holds the positions of Lead for Interventional Pain Management and Faculty of Pain Medicine Tutor within the trust. Dr. Jayaseelan holds full registration with the General Medical Council, UK and completes regular annual appraisals. He did clinical training in Anaesthesia and Pain management in the UK at East Midlands, Glasgow and Mersey Deaneries. During his training, he completed two separate prestigious fellowships in pain management at the National Refractory Angina Centre, Liverpool and the Walton Centre. Dr. Jayaseelan is among the first pain specialists in the UK to obtain the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine by Examination (FFPMRCA). Additionally, he has achieved the FIPP (Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice) qualification by examination from the World Institute of Pain. He also holds fellowship qualifications by examination in Anaesthesia from both the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA), UK, and the College of Anaesthetists, Republic of Ireland (FCARCSI). Dr. Jayaseelan serves as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Liverpool and acts as an examiner for the final-year clinical examinations within the University’s MBChB programme. He is an Advanced Life Support Instructor and has taught and examined candidates since 2015. He is also an author on the Pain Management e-learning project of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child health. He also teaches regularly at the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia congress workshops. Furthermore, Dr. Jayaseelan examines for the Faculty of Pain Medicine exam at the Royal College of Anaesthetists, UK, as well as the Diploma of Pain Medicine exam administered by the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia. He remains actively engaged in the teaching and training of anaesthetists and pain medicine specialists.

Dr. Jayaseelan treats chronic non-cancer and cancer pain using a patient centred comprehensive multi-dimensional assessment and following evidence-based pharmacological (medications) and interventional (injections) approaches. Dr. Jayaseelan performs targeted X-ray-guided and Ultrasound-guided procedures for spinal and other joint pain conditions, cancer pain, Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome, visceral (internal organs) pain conditions and nerve/neuropathic pain including chronic post-surgical pain according to Faculty of Pain Medicine standards.
