GMC reg: 4743154I am a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics, with a specialist interest in 'Foot and Ankle' surgery. My NHS activity is based in Kettering General Hospital, while my Private activity is based at the Woodlands Hospital and the Glendon Wood Hospital in Northamptonshire. I treat a wide variety of conditions within the foot and ankle. These include degenerative and arthritic conditions, ligamentous or sports injuries, tendon inflammation or tears, flat foot or high arch foot correction, and forefoot surgery such as bunions and hammer toes. Please be aware that I also manage diabetic foot conditions, but only in my NHS service. My approach to any condition is to fully explore non surgical options, before considering surgery - hence I work with an expert team of physiotherapists, orthotists and podiatrists. My Educational History and Qualifications are as follows - I completed my medical school training in 'Guys, Kings and St Thomas's Medical School' in London, where I gained both a BSc and a MBBS qualification. I subsequently obtained my MRCS qualification with both the 'Royal College of Surgeons of England' and the 'Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow'. I then obtained a 'Masters of Education' with Merit in Surgical Education from Imperial College London. I carried out my higher surgical training within the South West London Deanery, gaining my FRCS qualification. Finally I carried out my subspecialty training Fellowship at the Foot and Ankle unit in Leicester. In terms of professional bodies, I am a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, the Royal College of Surgeons and the Medical Protection Society.
Trauma and orthopaedic surgery - Foot & Ankle
Over the years I have been involved in a number of research projects. I have presented my findings at both national and international conferences. I have also obtained publications in peer reviewed journals. In 2024, I and my team won the prestigious prize for the best Poster presentation at the 'British Orthopaedic Association' annual conference. This study was evaluating the offloading effectiveness for different plaster techniques to the foot. In 2022, I was part of team that gained a publication in the ' Bone and Joint' open journal. This was a study evaluating the differing teams in managing diabetic foot conditions. In 2022, I was also part of a team that gained a publication in the 'World journal of Orthopedics'. This was a study evaluating the ligamentous stability around the ankle. The same study was presented in 2019 at the 'British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society' and won the prestigious best Podium presentation award. Currently I am striving to get further publications from my research projects of plaster casting techniques and diabetic foot management. Going forward I will be evaluating newer surgical techniques in treating flat footedness correction.
