Miss Sarita Vamadeva

Introduction Miss Sarita Vamadeva is a UK qualified Board-certified Plastic Surgeon. She is one of a very small group of female plastic surgeons in the UK.   Areas of Specialism Sarita’s areas of specialism in the private sector include: ·      Breast surgery: breast augmentation, breast reduction and breast mastopexy ·      Body contouring after weight loss: abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), thigh lift, arm lift, liposuction ·      Abdominal wall tightening and contouring ·      Vaginal rejuvenation: labiaplasty, mons liposuction ·      Facial surgery: minor lumps and bumps, upper blepharoplasty, split earlobes   Sarita’s NHS practice focuses on: ·      Hand surgery: arthritis, Dupuytren’s contracture, trigger finger, carpal/cubital tunnel and ganglion ·      Abdominal wall surgery: repair of divarication of recti muscles, repair of hernias (in conjunction with a General Surgeon), reconstruction of complex pilonidal sinus ·      Lower limb reconstruction: diabetic foot reconstruction ·      Skin surgery: lumps and bumps (moles, skin tags, lipomas, scar revision), minor skin cancers   Current Positions ·      Founder of the Female Plastic Surgeons’ Club ·      Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Frimley Health NHS Trust ·      Director of Undergraduate Education, Brunel Medical School ·      Editorial Board Member, British Journal of Hospital Medicine ·      Royal College of Surgeons Tutor, Wexham Park Hospital   Education & Training Sarita was educated at the North London Collegiate School and in her final year was elected Deputy Head Girl. She went on to study medicine at Imperial College London and during her medical degree also completed an additional science degree in Human Physiology.   Sarita completed her plastic surgical training in London and undertook additional fellowships in Microsurgery (breast reconstruction, abdominal wall reconstruction and head/neck reconstruction) at Imperial College London and Limb Reconstruction at the Royal London Hospital. Sarita also spent time enhancing her plastic surgery skills in New York (Sloan Kettering Cancer Center), Sydney, India and New Zealand.   Research & Mentoring Sarita has a keen interest in research and education; she has a MSc in Tissue Engineering and has over 30 publications and international presentations. She is a Director of Undergraduate Education at Brunel Medical School and a Royal College of Surgeons Tutor for Plastic Surgery at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. Sarita does regular voluntary work for charities encouraging women into STEM subjects.
