Dr Sarah Elkin is a Consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London. She has extensive expertise in respiratory medicine, with particular interests in COPD, asthma, breathlessness, cough and the development models of respiratory care. She is currently Co-Clinical Director of the London Respiratory Network and serves on the Executive Committee of the Primary Care Respiratory Society. Dr Elkin is the Clinical Lead for COPD in Neighbourhoods within the national Respiratory Transformation Programme, where she leads work to develop and embed integrated, community-focused respiratory services across the UK. She also led the development of the OPTIMISE approach to COPD care, an innovative model focused on patient empowerment, improving the quality and consistency of reviews, enhancing workforce capability, and strengthening collaboration between specialist, primary, and community care teams. She was lead the post covid clinic at Imperial and co-founder of the innovative ENO breathe program, a breathing retraining program for those with ongoing breathlessness linked to post viral syndromes, asthma and COPD. Passionate about improving outcomes for people living with respiratory disease, Dr Elkin is a keen educator and supporter of the patient voice. She is a well respected expert in her field.
