Mr Sami Al-Ali

Mr Sami Al-Ali is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in Foot and Ankle Surgery. As a graduate from Southampton Medical school, he undertook early training in Bristol and Oxford before joining the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore training programme.  After qualifying, he undertook a further Foot and Ankle Surgery fellowship at Imperial College London at St Mary's Hospital Major Trauma Centre and Charring cross Hospitals.  He has been a Substantive Consultant at NWAFT since 2020 and undertakes all aspects of Foot and Ankle surgery including Elective and Trauma work.  Common conditions treated include Osteoarthritis of the Foot and Ankle, Rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory arthritis associated deformity, Achilles tendon problems, other tendon problems of the foot and ankle, ligament and sports injuries, plantar fascitis, keyhole surgery to the ankle, Hallux Valgus/Bunions/ Hallux Rigidus, Great toe problems and all aspects of foot/ankle trauma and injuries. He also treats Diabetic foot problems and secondary deformity resulting from that. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, East Anglia Foot and Ankle Society, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons.  Passionate about teaching, he is the Undergraduate Orthopaedic Speciality Lead for Cambridge Medical Students at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, and is also the Lead Assigned Educational Supervisor for Deanery Training Registrars from the East of England training programme attached to NWAFT.
