I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in Cataract Surgery, Oculoplastics, Lacrimal surgery, Orbital surgery as well as Ocular Oncology. My private practice is based at Claremont Hospital as well as Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield. I am one of the select few Ophthalmologists in South Yorkshire offering phacoemulsification cataract surgery with the options of monofocal or premium extended range of vision, toric or multifocal intraocular lenses. I perform all oculoplastic procedures and have special expertise in blepharoplasty surgery which is removal of excess skin from upper and lower eyelids, all types of cosmetic surgery around eyelids, droopy eyelid surgery, interning and out turning of eyelids and removal of cancers and lumps around eyelids. I also perform surgery for watery eyes and orbital and socket surgery. I am the Clinical lead for Sheffield Ocular Oncology Service, which is one of the three National Ocular Oncology Centers in England. I provide the complete spectrum of treatment options for adult eye cancer patients. I formulated the NICE accredited Uveal Melanoma National Guidelines as a core member of melanoma focus expert group. I am on the clinical advisory panel of Ocumel, the patient support group. I am the regional orbital lead for South Yorkshire. I have set up a joint thyroid clinic with the endocrinologists and also a joint orbital trauma clinic with the maxillo-facial surgeon. I have brought innovative ideas to the department like use of the cone beam CT scan for thyroid patients and novel surgical techniques like optic nerve sheath fenestration. I find research very stimulating and rewarding which is reflected in my numerous publications, posters and oral presentations in national and international meetings. I am on the editorial board of Indian Journal of Ophthalmology. I enjoy teaching and am the Director of the Fellowship Programme in Ocular Oncology and Oculoplastics in Sheffield in addition to being an educational supervisor to two Specialty trainees. I organize the yearly Sheffield Final FRCOphth Preparatory Course, which has been successfully running for the past 10 years. I am Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer to the University of Sheffield and have been the Ophthalmology lead to the Orthoptics degree course for the past 3 years. My Fellowship training has been at Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and Cole Eye Institute, Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, USA. I am a full member of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society BOPSS, Oculoplastic Association of India OPAI, International Society of Ocular Oncology ISOO and am indemnified with the Medical Protection Society MPS.
