Dr Ruby Haji is a Haematology Consultant with NHS practice based at The Hillingdon Hospital. Having been a consultant for 7 years she has a wealth of experience. Dr Haji runs a General Haematology Clinic/haemato-oncology clinic and Thrombosis and Haemostasis Clinic. As part of her work, she oversees the care of patients with blood cancers in the outpatient clinics, Chemotherapy Day Unit and on the Haematology Inpatient Ward at Hillingdon Hospital. She is involved in clinical trials for both malignant and non-malignant haematological conditions. Dr Haji completed her medical degree at Imperial College London in 2005, along with a 1st Class Honours BSc degree in Haematology. She received training in a wide range of general medical specialties in the Northwest London Hospitals. She went on to complete Specialist Haematology Training on the Imperial College London rotation with posts at Hammersmith Hospital, St Marys Hospital Paddington and Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals. Dr Haji is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists having achieved her FRCPath qualification in 2017. Dr Haji is the Head of Anticoagulation Services and Lead Haematologist for Thrombosis and Haemostasis at Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She has expertise in treating complex blood clotting problems. As part of her haemostasis work, she is experienced in managing patients with complex immune blood disorders and is a member of the Imperial College Immune Haematology network MDT. She also leads the Obstetric Haematology Clinic at Hillingdon along with a colleague in Obstetrics. Dr Haji also works closely with the gynaecology team providing advice for patients requiring HRT who have risk of blood clots or other haematological conditions. As a General Haematologist, Dr Haji is experienced in diagnosing and treating a wide range of haematological disorders including blood cancers leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma, thrombosis, bleeding disorders, abnormal blood counts, myeloproliferative disorders, immune haematological disorders such as immune thrombocytopenia and autoimmune haemolytic anaemia, iron deficiency, vitamin B12 deficiency, and haemoglobinopathies sickle cell disease and thalassaemia. She also provides advice on blood transfusion and management of haematological problems prior to surgery. Dr Haji works closely alongside her Haematology Consultant Colleague, Dr Akila Danga, as Co-Director of their company 1stBLOOD LTD. Dr Haji and Dr Danga work together to deliver an outstanding haematology service at BMI Bishops Wood. As a team of two consultants they are able to provide continuity of care for both outpatient services and inpatient consultative advice. Their individual specialist interests complement each others practice and allows them to provide the best level of evidence based care in all aspects of haematology for their patients.
