Originally from the Midlands, his family moved to Carmarthenshire in 1989. After graduating from the University of Wales College of Medicine , Cardiff in 1995, he carried his basic surgical training posts throughout south Wales. He undertook his Higher Surgical Training in Wales and the south west of England. Mr Yate became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2007. During his training, he developed a specialist interest in conditions of the lower limb including arthritis and sports injuries such as ligament rupture and cartilage damage within the knee. He specialises in hip and knee replacement surgery including partial knee replacement and patello-femoral replacement. He performs most of his soft tissue knee surgery through arthroscopic techniques. and also performs Osteotomy surgery for limb realignment. He remains committed to developing new techniques to ensure his practice keeps pace with the most recent developments in his field. He continues to be active in under graduate and post graduate training.
