Mr Rickaz Raheem is a Consultant Urologist with a specialist interest in endourology, currently based at Bedford Hospital. He qualified with an MBBS degree in 2007 and has been practising urology since 2012. He holds a Master’s degree in Urology with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Mr Raheem completed fellowship training in laser prostate surgery (HoLEP) at Luton and Dunstable Hospital, gaining advanced expertise in the surgical management of benign prostatic enlargement. He offers a comprehensive range of treatment options for enlarged prostates, including HoLEP, TURP, and UroLift. He also provides expert guidance on newer, minimally invasive techniques such as Rezum (steam therapy) and Aquablation (waterjet ablation), ensuring each patient receives an individualised and evidence-based treatment plan. An experienced endourologist, Mr Raheem routinely treats patients with kidney and ureteric stones using minimally invasive, laser-based procedures. He also provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for prostate and bladder cancer, including prostate biopsies and flexible cystoscopy, supporting the early detection and optimal management of urological malignancies. Mr Raheem has a strong interest in female urology and regularly treats women with urinary symptoms and incontinence. He performs intravesical Botox injections for overactive bladder and uses Bulkamid injections as a minimally invasive treatment for stress urinary incontinence. His surgical repertoire includes a wide range of penoscrotal procedures, including circumcision, hydrocele repair, and the management of other scrotal and penile conditions. He also offers specialist assessment and treatment for erectile dysfunction and ejaculatory disorders. Mr Raheem is actively involved in research, particularly in the field of prostate cancer diagnostics. He has presented his research at international meetings and published on the role of MRI in prostate cancer diagnosis and innovations in bladder cancer detection. In addition to his clinical and research work, Mr Raheem is passionate about education. He holds a formal teaching qualification and is a GMC-accredited Educational Supervisor. He trains both junior and senior urology trainees and serves as a College Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, Mr Raheem is known for his meticulous approach, clear communication, and compassionate interaction. He is committed to using minimally invasive techniques to enhance recovery and optimise outcomes, always prioritising the quality of life and well-being of his patients.
