Professor Richardson, Patrick

I qualified from St Bart's Hospital which has recently celebrated its 900th year! I have research interests into the causes and treatments of macular oedema, and I have published in the areas of ocular melanoma, genetics of diabetic retinopathy, inhibition of proliferative vitreo-retinopathy and more recently on bariatric surgery and endocannabinoids in diabetic retinopathy. I am a member of the Academy of Medical Educators, EuRetina and I am a Visiting Professor at the University of Derby.

My clinical interests include the management of medical retinal conditions; diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and retinal vascular occlusions, and their treatment with laser, intra-vitreal injections and cataract surgery.
