Mr. Stevenson is an expert in colonoscopy, coloproctology and hernia surgery. He has been published in specialist colorectal journals and continually delivers best-practice care in his field. Mr. Stevenson qualified from the University of Aberdeen in 2006 before moving to the West of Scotland where he commenced his training in General Surgery. He was awarded a prestigious Research Fellowship from Cancer Research UK at the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research investigating the malignant transformation of colitic cells in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. This led to the award of PhD from the University of Glasgow in 2014. He completed his advanced higher surgical training and was appointed Consultant General & Colorectal Surgeon at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. In recognition of his ongoing collaborative research work with the University of Glasgow, he was further appointed as an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer. He has received numerous awards and prizes throughout his career, has published a book and 37 papers in peer reviewed journals. He has presented his work at over 20 International & National meetings and has gained Membership of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers in recognition of his commitment to training.

Mr Stevenson has a busy practice encompassing minimally invasive, laparoscopic general and colorectal surgery. He has full accreditation with the Joint Advisory Group on GI endoscopy for both upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy and has a fortnightly combined clinic with Plastic Surgeons for complex perineal reconstructive surgery. Mr. Stevenson is a recognised expert in his field, whose opinion has been sought in over 200 Medicolegal cases and he is a member of the Expert Witness Institute. Areas of interest include inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and diverticular disease), colorectal cancer, hernia surgery and pilonidal disease. He has extensive experience in proctology and offers treatments for haemorrhoids (including THD), rectal prolapse, anal fissures, fistulae-in-ano and skin tags.
