Dr Richard Campbell

Dr Richard Campbell is a Consultant Rheumatologist with extensive experience in both the NHS and private practice. He provides specialist assessment and treatment for a broad range of rheumatological and musculoskeletal conditions, with particular expertise in inflammatory arthritis and connective tissue diseases. He is an NHS Consultant Rheumatologist at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and sees private patients at Sloane Hospital in Beckenham and Chelsfield Park Hospital in Orpington. Dr Campbell qualified in medicine in Bristol in 2000 before undertaking postgraduate medical and specialist rheumatology training in London. He also undertook academic research at King’s College London and was appointed as a Consultant Rheumatologist in 2013. His NHS clinical work is based at Orpington Hospital and Princess Royal University Hospital where he has been lead clinician. He contributes to postgraduate training through his role on the London Deanery Specialist Registrar Training Committee. He diagnoses and manages the whole spectrum of different types of arthritis and musculoskeletal diseases. He also works in specialist services at King’s College Hospital, including a complex rheumatology and lupus clinic. Alongside his clinical work, Dr Campbell has held a number of clinical leadership and governance roles. He has served as Clinical Lead for rheumatology services at King’s College Hospital’s Bromley sites and has chaired the Consultant Committee at Princess Royal University Hospital. He is a member of the London Deanery London specialty registrar training committee. He is currently Clinical Chair at Chelsfield Park Hospital and remains actively involved in clinical governance and maintaining high standards of patient care. Approach to care Dr Campbell understands that symptoms such as joint pain, stiffness and fatigue can significantly affect quality of life. Many patients seek his opinion after a period of uncertainty, sometimes with ongoing symptoms but no clear diagnosis.
