Mr Rajpal Nandra

Mr Rajpal Nandra is a highly experienced consultant orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in arthritis requiring primary hip replacement, sports hip injuries, and femoroacetabular impingement, as well as hip dysplasia, rotational abnormalities of the tibia and femur, and revision hip surgery. Mr Nandra is highly qualified with an FRCS and MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons, a Masters in Research (University of Birmingham) and an MRCGP (Royal College of General Practitioners) alongside an MBBS from the University of London and a BSc from Bart’s & The Royal London Medical School. He uses both cemented and uncemented prostheses for primary hip arthroplasty, ensuring that treatment plans are tailored to individual needs. Mr Nandra has a particular passion for hip preservation surgery, aiming to prevent the progression of conditions that could lead to end-stage arthritis and necessitate joint replacement. He frequently assesses young adults with hip pain caused by abnormal joint development, sports injuries, or work-related issues, with common conditions including hip dysplasia, femoroacetabular impingement, and the sequelae of childhood conditions like Perthes disease or Slipped Upper Femoral Epiphysis (SUFE). He collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to mitigate further joint damage, rehabilitate surrounding muscles, and use minimally invasive techniques like hip arthroscopy to repair joint tissues. Mr Nandra works with the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy and the Non-Arthroplasty Hip Registry. He is also involved in primary care, where he manages musculoskeletal pain and collaborates with integrated care systems to streamline patient pathways from initial consultation to definitive treatment in secondary care.
