Mr. R. Thangaraj is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in complex lower limb trauma and arthroplasty with subspeciality interest in knee revision arthroplasty.nAfter completing his medical degree in MBBS and Diploma in Orthopaedics in India, Mr. R. Thangaraj moved to United Kingdom in 2005. He completed his MRCS from Royal College of Edinburgh in 2007. He completed his M.Sc in Orthopaedic Engineering in 2012 from School Of Engineering, Cardiff University. He obtained FRCS T&O from Royal College of Edinburgh in 2015. Mr. R. Thangaraj did his lower limb arthroplasty fellowship in the prestigious Prof. John Charnley Unit in Wrightington Hospital, Wigan in 2016. Mr. R. Thangaraj worked as fellow in Paediatric Orthopaedics in Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Manchester. Mr. R. Thangaraj completed his Major Trauma fellow ship from Aintree University Hospital, Liverpool in 2018. During this period, he travelled to Innsbruck, Austria for fellowship under Prof. Blauth at Innsbruck, Austria. He is in the Specialist Register of General Medical Council since 2018. Mr. R. Thangaraj has worked as Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon since 2018 and has worked as Consultant in NHS east and North Hertfordshire, Stevenage; Nottingham University Hospitals NHS trust, Nottingham; Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS trust, Leeds and NHS Lanarkshire, Glasgow in the past. Mr. R. Thangaraj has been working as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in complex lower limb trauma and arthroplasty with subspeciality interest in knee revision arthroplasty in Raigmore Hospital and National Treatment Centre, NHS Highlands, Inverness since 2022. Mr. R. Thangaraj is a high-volume arthroplasty consultant and performs primary hip and knee arthroplasty, complex hip and knee arthroplasty and revision arthroplasty of knee. His other interests include periprosthetic fractures, periprosthetic joint infection, complex lower limb trauma and failed fixations, non-union of lower limb long bone injuries. He has performed multiple single and two stage revisions for infected knee arthroplasty. Mr. R. Thangaraj is keen on teaching and is on various teaching courses. He has been in the faculty in the Wrightington FRCS courses in the past. He is one of the Directors of the Highland Orthopaedic Courses Ltd, Inverness and conducts various orthopaedic courses for the benefit of trainees in Inverness. He currently organises teaching sessions for the orthopaedic trainees in NHS Highland Mr. R. Thangaraj is interested in research and audit. He is involved in multiple publications in peer review journals and multiple audits throughout his career.
