Mr Raghavendra Prasad Sidaginamale

Dr. Raghavendra Sidaginamale is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialist expertise in primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty. He is based at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and also practices at Woodlands Hospital in Darlington. Dr. Sidaginamale offers both conventional and robotic-assisted joint replacements, tailoring each procedure to the individual needs of his patients. He completed his medical degree at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in South India, followed by postgraduate training in Orthopaedics at the esteemed Manipal Academy of Higher Education. After relocating to the UK, he gained extensive clinical experience at East Lancashire Hospitals, the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham, and various hospitals in London. He earned his MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh during this time. Dr. Sidaginamale underwent six years of higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in the prestigious North East Deanery, culminating in the award of FRCS (Tr & Orth) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. To further refine his skills, he completed a highly regarded 12-month fellowship in hip and knee arthroplasty in Auckland, New Zealand. There, he developed advanced expertise in complex primary and revision procedures, periprosthetic fracture fixation, and the application of cutting-edge technologies, including computer navigation, robotic surgery, and artificial intelligence in joint replacement. A dedicated researcher, Dr. Sidaginamale holds a PhD in Bioengineering from Newcastle University, with a focus on hip replacements. His collaborative work with international experts has made a significant contribution to the understanding and management of metal-on-metal hip implants. His research has been published in high-impact journals and presented at leading national and international conferences. He continues to innovate in the field of implant analysis and joint replacement technologies. In his current role as a full-time Consultant at the University Hospital of North Tees, Dr. Sidaginamale manages acute trauma cases and leads elective hip and knee clinics and surgeries. He also serves as the Clinical Audit Lead and Research & Development Lead for the Orthopaedic Department. In these roles, he champions clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and leads internationally recognised research studies, including projects involving genetic sequencing to improve joint replacement outcomes. A passionate educator, Dr. Sidaginamale contributes as a faculty member for FRCS exam preparation courses, an Adult Trauma Life Support instructor, and a mentor to Orthopaedic trainees, guiding them in their professional growth. He is dedicated to shared decision-making and strives to provide the highest quality of care and a positive experience for all his patients.
