I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. I have joined Manchester University NHS foundation Trust in 2019. My current private practice is based at a the Oaklands Hospital Manchester as part of Ramsay health care.
My practice includes knee surgery and primary lower limb arthroplasty (Hip and Knee replacement) including complex primary lower limb arthroplasty. My scope of knee surgery includes comprehensive knee surgery including joint preservation surgery (osteotomy and partial knee replacement), patellofemoral disorders and various arthroscopic knee soft tissue procedures. I have a special interest in patellofemoral instability service.
I perform pelvic and acetabular trauma surgery
I achieved my CCT requirements a year earlier than my CCT date. Therefore, I spent the last year of training as a pre CCT lower limb fellow at specialist units in the North West namely; Stepping Hill hospital, Royal Preston Hospital and Wrightington Hospital. My final placement of training, at Wrightington Hospital as a pre- CCT fellow, has further developed my lower limb arthroplasty skill set especially complex and revision lower limb arthroplasty procedures.
I am a fellowship trained in Knee Surgery. I have been competitively selected and completed my post- CCT DePuy knee fellowship at York Teaching Hospital NHS foundation Trust. As a Senior knee fellow, I gained a lot of experience through exposure to high volume of knee surgery including knee arthroplasty, various soft tissue procedures and joint preservation surgery for young adults (knee osteotomy and partial knee replacement). Moreover, the exposure to paediatric knee soft tissue injuries was phenomenal.
I learned trochleoplasty procedure at Stepping Hill Hospital. Thereafter, I attended the patellofemoral masterclass course and undertook Charnley Latta Travelling Knee Fellowship with Dr. David Dejour at LyonOrthoClinic in France to learn the signature “Lyon Trochleoplasty Technique”.
I have diverse experience in managing skeletal trauma and have 40 months of experience in working at Major Trauma Centres in the UK. Throughout that time, I have done A-O fellowship and consequently, I am comfortable with safely managing the vast majority of trauma presentations.
I have experience in research and find this rewarding and would like to continue developing my academic portfolio throughout my career. I have authored fifteen articles in peer reviewed and PubMed indexed journals and have also co-authored a textbook. The main theme of my research output was on knee surgery and Hip fracture management.
I have completed a research-based MSc, with a significant element on research methodology and medical statistics. My thesis studied the outcome of different modalities of Surgical Management of Spinal Metastases.
Within my current consultant role, I am involved in complex clinical, patient management problems and inter-disciplinary planning including Multidisciplinary Me
