GMC reg: 3168161Robina Coker is Professor of Practice in Respiratory Medicine at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, and Imperial College London. She has run the ILD service at Hammersmith Hospital since 1999. It now operates 8 clinics a week; ILD Clinical Nurse Specialists and a Pharmacist run their own additional clinics. There is a weekly ILD MDT and a monthly cross-site cardiac sarcoid MDT. The Trust service is commissioned as a specialist ILD service by NHS England. In 1999 Robina Coker established and chaired the British Thoracic Society (BTS) Air Travel Working Party, which published the first UK recommendations on air travel and lung disease in 2002. They were the first worldwide to give advice for passengers with a wide range of respiratory conditions. They were revised in 2004 and 2011. Robina chaired the group which wrote the BTS Clinical Statement on Air Travel and Lung Disease, published in Thorax in 2022. In 2019 she was awarded the Individual Bronze Medal by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) for her contribution to airline passenger safety, and in 2021 she received the BTS Meritorious Service Award.
