GMC reg: 6085152Dimitrios Paraskevopoulos is a Consultant Neurosurgeon based at Barts Health NHS Trust, St. Bartholomew’s and The Royal London Hospital. He is also an Honorary Clinical Professor at the Blizard Institute, Queen Mary, University of London. He is the Clinical Lead for Neurosurgery at Barts Health. His sub-specialist interests include brain tumours, skull base surgery (anterior and lateral), acoustic neuromas, meningiomas, stereotactic radiosurgery (Gamma knife), head injury and adult spine surgery. He has a particular interest in endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery. Prof Paraskevopoulos is the Lead for Skull base surgery and Neuro-oncology at Barts Health. He graduated from the Aristotle University Medical School of Thessaloniki and completed a higher academic degree Doctorate of Medicine at the Ruprecht-Karls University of Heidelberg after experimental research in Neuronavigation. He also graduated a Master of Science (MSc) in Health Information Management from the University of Heidelberg. During his Neurosurgical training, he trained in Thessaloniki (Greece) as well as in Heidelberg, Germany (Department of Neurosurgery, University Heidelberg). At the end of training, he did a fellowship in Paediatric Neurosurgery in Tel Aviv, under the mentorship of Prof. S. Constantini. Post-training, he sub-specialized in Skull base surgery and Neuro-oncology as a Fellow at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queen Square. As a Consultant, he has previously had additional surgical activity across the North London network, as Honorary Consultant Neurosurgeon for lateral skull base at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queen Square and for endoscopic pituitary surgery at BHRUT, Queens Romford. He trained in Gamma Knife Radiosurgery in Pittsburgh and has a regular stereotactic radiosurgery practice, being trained in both Gamma knife and Cyberknife. His academic research interests include skull base, Neuro-endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery, navigation and augmented reality. Clinical interests: Brain tumours, Skull Base Surgery, Acoustic Neuroma, Meningioma, Endoscopic surgery, Gamma knife radiosurgery, Adult spine, and Head Injury.
