Professor Prof. Adrian Stanley

Graduated MBChB from University of Edinburgh in 1988. Awarded MD thesis, University of Edinburgh 1998 Worked as junior Doctor in London, Edinburgh, New Zealand and Australia, before being appointed Consultant Gastroenterologist at Glasgow Royal Infirmary in 1999. Appointed Honorary Professor at the University of Glasgow in 2018. I have an active research portfolio, with >150 peer reviewed publications and several book chapters to date. Author on several UK and international Gastroenterology guidelines.  Advisor to SMC and NICE 2011 - present. Elected to the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) Liver section, the BSG Gastroduodenal section, the BSG International committee, and the RCPSGlasgow Council and founder member of the RCPSG Global Health group. Invited speaker and performed live endoscopy at numerous national and international Gastroenterology meetings (14 in past three years). Director of the annual RCPSG "Glasgow-Gastro" educational symposium.  On the on the organising committees of both the annual Advanced Gastroenterology & Hepatology course at RCPEdinburgh and the annual RCPSGlasgow Medicine-24  Symposium.  Closely involved in the BSG supported Malawi Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Endoscopy education and training programme 2012-present. Elected Vice-President (Medical) of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow (2019-2022) Appointed Senior Secretary of the British Society of Gastroenterology (2021-2023) Elected President of the Scottish Society of Gastroenterology (2022-2024)
