Professor P Sooriakumaran (PS)

Professor Prasanna Sooriakumaran (Prof PS) is a world-leading prostate cancer surgeon and urologist, who was the first Lead for Urology at Cleveland Clinic London and the first UK urologist to become Full Professor of Urology at Cleveland Clinic. He is the only urologist worldwide to be Visiting Professor of Urology at the University of Oxford and the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences Jodhpur where he is also Visiting Professor of Robotic Surgery. Prof PS is one of the UK's highest volume robotic prostate cancer surgeons, and trained at Ivy League's Cornell University (New York), the Nobel-awarding Karolinska Institute (Stockholm), and the University of Oxford. He is a world leader in Retzius-sparing robotic prostatectomy, a technique that has revolutionized early continence recovery for his patients. Prof PS is also a world leader in graded nerve-sparing and complex robotic prostatectomy, and operates on patients from all over the globe. Prof PS sees private patients at LSDC Healthcare (City of London), where he also leads on research and innovation as Chief Academic Officer, and New Victoria Hospital (South West London), Harley Street Specialist Hospital (Central London), and the BUPA Cromwell Hospital (West London), one of only 2 UK private hospitals with the single-port surgical robot. In 2018, Prof PS won the Vice-Chancellor’s Alumni Achievement Award for his “significant contributions to society and the field of prostate cancer care”; he was the first urologist to win this prestigious award.
