Professor John Staffurth

Professor Staffurth qualified in 1992 as a doctor, entering oncology training in 1996 on the Pan Thames rotation. He undertook an MD in IMRT for pelvic malignancies at the Institute of Cancer Research, London 2000-2002. He was appointed Clinical Senior Lecturer in Oncology in Cardiff University and a Consultant Clinical Oncologist in Velindre Cancer Centre in 2004. He was promoted to Reader in 2014 and Professor in 2017.  His clinical area of practice is non-surgical oncological management of prostate cancer with a special interest in systemic therapies, genomic medicine and advanced radiotherapy techniques. He has been involved in many national trials of advanced radiotherapy for prostate cancer and has been the local lead for many trials of novel systemic agents including chemotherapy, novel hormones, genomic agents, biologically targeted agents and immunotherapy
