I have co-authored over 250 publications. More than 75 are published in Nature and Nature Genetics. I am a highly cited researcher (59,856 citations, H-index 97) My current research is targeted at susceptibility gene identification of CVD and T2D. I am Director of South Asia Biobank comprising ~200,000 participants from UK and South Asia, followed-up longitudinally, for investigation of wide ranging scientific questions among South Asians, who comprise ¼ of the world's population. I am Founder and Director of the London Life Sciences Population (LOLIPOP) cohort study a prospective investigation of 42,547 South Asian and European men and women, comprising the largest and most deeply phenotyped multi-ethnic cohort worldwide, (including >2M bio-samples stored at minus 80 degrees, since 2003). providing insights into causal mechanisms and prediction of cardiovascular disease and diabetes, with significant scientific impacts. Since 1991, I have provided training in general cardiology to over several hundred doctors, and specialist trainees in invasive / interventional cardiology, many of whom now practise as consultants in the UK. I have developed and lead clinical skills courses for doctors entering higher specialist training. Approximately, 25,000 UK doctors have attended and received training on these courses (ealingpaces.com, 1991-current). I have chaired sessions and delivered invited lectures at many local, national, and international clinical and scientific conferences.
