GMC reg: 3260843Jervoise Andreyev’s first degree was in Arabic Studies. He qualified in Medicine in 1987 and completed a PhD in molecular biology in 1997. In 2000, he was appointed Senior Lecturer at Imperial College, London and in 2006, at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London became the first ever gastroenterologist worldwide specifically appointed to treat the GI side effects of treatments for cancer. In 2016, he was Nimmo Visiting Professor at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia. In 2017, he moved to Lincoln County Hospital. In 2019, he was appointed Honorary Professor, the School of Medicine, the University of Nottingham. While working as a full time NHS clinician, he has raised approximately £4.5 million for research studies and £5.5 million for service development, enrolled 1,500 patients into randomized trials and several thousand patients into interventional cohort studies. He has published about 175 papers which have been cited >10,000 times, His H index is 49 (outstanding). His research initially focused primarily on the GI toxicity of cancer treatments and he is acknowledged as an international leader in this field. However, he has shown that his team’s findings from research in patients with GI side effects of cancer therapies is relevant to a wide range of non cancer related GI disorders. In addition, to providing a tertiary referral service and the development of innovative therapies for those with GI side effects of cancer treatment, he has set up and leads a new service to improve diagnosis and treatment for patients with functional bowel symptoms focusing mainly on 86 primary care practices across Lincolnshire.
