GMC reg: 6104488Professor Ben Miranda is a highly respected Plastic Surgeon & Hand Surgeon. He has an excellent reputation, having worked at the prestigious St. Andrew's Centre for Plastic Surgery & Burns for many years; there he regularly performs complex surgery and he is a leading research scholar in the field of plastic surgery, with over 120 peer-reviewed publications and presentations to his credit. He is also the author of two bestselling surgical textbooks and has received numerous academic awards and distinctions. This wealth of experience puts him in an excellent position to evaluate the latest medical evidence and advances in treatment, so that he can offer each patient the very best care tailored to their individual needs. Professor Miranda studied medicine at University College London and completed a BSc. He then went on to complete a Plastic Surgery PhD, for which he ranked first place in the national recruitment process. Subsequently, he was awarded a training programme in London where he undertook his plastic surgery training at prestigious university-associated teaching hospitals (UCH, Royal Free, Chelsea & Westminster, St Mary's Paddington). In addition to completing a PhD, Professor Miranda was successfully awarded both the British (DipHandSurg) and European (EBHS) Diplomas in Hand Surgery. He was subsequently appointed as an official tutor for the BSSH British Hand Diploma course (University of Manchester); this is a higher sub-specialty qualification for Plastic Surgeons and Orthopaedic Surgeons wishing to undertake careers in Hand Surgery. Professor Miranda has numerous professional memberships and associations, including the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH), British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), Royal College of Surgeons, British Medical Association (BMA). He is included in the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Expert Witnesses (FFEW).
