Prof. Magee specialises in Gallbladder, hernia and weight loss surgery. He is a highly experienced surgeon who has won many national and international prizes for his work. He has a strong research profile and is heavily involved in teaching and training the next generation of surgeons. In 2017 he was made the Educational Lead for General Surgery Higher Surgical Trainees in the Mersey deanery and in 2018 he was awarded a prestigious Fellowship of the Faculty of Trainers at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is the Royal College of Surgeons Surgical Tutor for Wirral University Teaching Hospital co-director of the research fellow programme. At a national level he has sat on the BOMSS committee for training, education and research. Prof. Magee routinely teaches at the University of Chester and was proud to have been appointed Visiting Professor in 2018. He has over 150 publications including; -British Journal of Surgery -Obesity Surgery - Surgery of Obesity and Related Diseases and is often asked to provide expert reviews for both research and medicolegal cases. Prof. Magee has a keen interest in the history of medicine and has recently published a number of articles on unusual conditions in the famous (Wirral Life 2018).
