Mr Philip Dobson

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Newcastle upon Tyne, specialising in hip, knee and sports injury surgery. I graduated from Newcastle University and completed my trauma and orthopaedic surgical training in the North East of England before completing two years of specialist fellowship training in Australia. This included one year at the Brisbane Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre focusing on knee reconstruction, knee preservation, knee replacement and hip replacement surgery. I also completed a one year fellowship in major trauma surgery at John Hunter Hospital, the busiest trauma centre in New South Wales. Alongside my clinical training, I undertook a PhD at Newcastle University on bone health and ageing. I provide the full spectrum of modern treatment options, from physiotherapy referral and joint injections through to advanced surgery such as robotic assisted hip and knee replacement, ACL reconstruction, cartilage and meniscal surgery, osteotomy and knee arthroscopy.
