Mr Pearse, Yemi

Mr Eyiyemi (Yemi) Pearse, MA(Oxon) FRCS(Orth) is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in shoulder and elbow surgery and upper limb fractures. He graduated from Oriel College Oxford, in 1995, with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree and an honours degree in Physiological Sciences. He completed his orthopaedic training on the South West Thames rotation and undertook fellowships in Australia and the United Kingdom. He was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at St George’s Hospital, London in 2007. St George’s is a Level 1 Trauma Centre receiving a high volume of complex injuries and this experience in trauma has led Mr Pearse to develop an interest and expertise in treating complex fractures and dislocations of the shoulder and elbow, as well as the long and short term consequences of these injuries such as stiffness, instability and arthritis. In addition to trauma, he has a comprehensive elective practice and treats all shoulder and elbow pathologies except tumours. As well as a busy NHS and private practice, he has leadership, teaching, mentoring and management roles at St George’s. Working with colleagues in the Shoulder and Elbow Unit, he has developed and published several pioneering surgical techniques to improve the treatment of upper limb trauma and to advance our techniques for arthroscopic (keyhole) shoulder reconstructions. He remains active in research and has well over 50 publications in peer reviewed journals and book chapters. Mr Pearse rowed for Oxford University. He continues to scull and is a keen cyclist.
