Mr Paul Kirkland

I am a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist working in Kent and East Sussex. I have over 20 years of experience providing specialist ENT treatment as a Consultant. I worked in the NHS at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust from 2005 to 2025. I see private patients at KIMS Hospital (Maidstone), Royal Tunbridge Wells Clinic, Sevenoaks Medical Centre, Lyca Health Orpington and Sussex Premier Health (Hastings). Having graduated from St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School, London in 1989, I completed specialist ENT training in London and the South Thames region. I am on the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register (GMC number 3335534). I undertook specialist training in Head and Neck surgery at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London, and advanced training in thyroid and parathyroid surgery at the Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals, London.  I was awarded a Fellowship by the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery and trained at two centres of excellence in Amsterdam and Stuttgart. I received a National award in 2018 from the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists for the introduction of the first One-Stop Swallow Disorder Clinic in the UK. I am committed to delivering personalised care and optimal outcomes for my patients, by prioritising patient involvement in decision-making and collaborating closely with Consultant colleagues in ENT and other specialities. In my surgical practice, I offer minimally invasive and endoscopic surgical techniques, to speed up the post-operative recovery and reduce the time spent in hospital. This includes procedures such as Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) and Balloon Sinuplasty to treat sinusitis. Beyond clinical practice, I contribute to clinical research in ENT and endocrine surgery, with numerous publications in the medical literature.
