Mr Parkash Ramchandani

I am the clinical lead for oral and maxillofacial head and neck surgery in Dorset. I qualified in dentistry from Liverpool University in 1990 and studied medicine in St Andrew and Manchester Universities, obtaining a medical degree with honours in 1997. After undertaking basic surgical training in Manchester I moved to the South Coast for my higher surgical training, with placements in Chichester, Portsmouth, Southampton, Salisbury, Poole and Dorchester Hospitals. I consolidated my training by doing a cancer fellowship in Beijing after which I was appointed a consultant in Poole Hospital in 2005. I am on the Specialist Register of the GDC and GMC for oral and maxillofacial surgery. I am passionate about teaching and training with roles as educational and clinical supervisor for registrars and DCTs in Dorset. I am chair of examiners for the FRCS (OMFS) intercollegiate examination and examiner for FFD (OSOM) examinations of the Royal college of Surgeons of Ireland, and have been an instructor on the Royal College of Surgeons 'Advanced Trauma and Life Support' course. I am also the Training Programme Director for OMFS surgical trainees in Wessex. In addition I am deputy chair for the Specialist Advisory Committee which oversees the OMFS curriculum. I have presented extensively in the UK and on the international stage and have published widely in peer-reviewed journals as well as contributing 5 chapters in 4 books including oncology section editor in the 3rd edition of 'Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery' which covers the entire specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Away from work my wife and I enjoy listening to our 2 sons making music and enjoy watching them play cricket and hockey. I have a private pilots license and when I get some spare time I would love to fly again.
