Dr Osman Najam

Dr Osman Najam is a Consultant Cardiologist with expertise in general and interventional cardiology. He provides assessment and treatment for a broad range of cardiovascular conditions including chest pain, coronary artery disease, palpitations, hypertension, high cholesterol, and preventative cardiology. Dr Najam trained at leading London centres including King’s College Hospital, St George’s Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital. He completed a PhD at the UCL Hatter Cardiovascular Institute, where his research focused on cardiovascular science and translational medicine. Alongside his clinical work, he has maintained a strong interest in research, innovation, and the use of technology to improve patient care. His procedural expertise includes coronary angiography and coronary angioplasty (PCI), including the management of complex coronary artery disease. He has experience managing patients across the spectrum of cardiovascular disease, from prevention and risk factor optimisation through to invasive coronary intervention. Dr Najam currently works as a Consultant Cardiologist at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. In addition to his clinical role, he has an active interest in digital health and artificial intelligence within healthcare. He has been involved in collaborative work exploring AI-enabled clinical solutions aimed at improving patient pathways and supporting clinical decision-making, working alongside academic institutions, innovation networks, and healthcare stakeholders. He also serves as a member of the NICE Medical Technologies Advisory Committee, contributing to the national evaluation of emerging healthcare technologies and their safe and effective implementation within the NHS. Dr Najam is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centred care. He believes in clear communication and ensuring patients fully understand their condition, investigations, and treatment options. He works closely with colleagues across specialties to deliver safe, evidence-based and personalised cardiovascular care.

Dr Osman Najam has specialist interests in both general and interventional cardiology, with expertise in the assessment and management of chest pain, coronary artery disease, palpitations, arrhythmias, hypertension, high cholesterol, syncope, shortness of breath, and cardiovascular risk factors. He has a particular interest in preventative cardiology and helping patients optimise their long-term heart health through evidence-based risk reduction and lifestyle management. His procedural expertise includes coronary angiography and coronary angioplasty (PCI/stenting), including the treatment of complex coronary artery disease. He also has interests in coronary physiology assessment and intravascular imaging techniques such as IVUS and OCT to support the diagnosis and management of coronary conditions. Dr Najam is experienced in the investigation of abnormal ECGs, stable angina, acute coronary syndromes, and family histories of heart disease. Alongside his clinical work, he has a strong interest in innovation, digital health, and the use of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence to improve patient pathways and support clinical decision-making.
